I enjoy expressing ideas graphically.  My biggest pet peeve is when people design things without thinking.  In my mind, if it's important enough to design then it's important enough to design well and with meaning and purpose.  On the flip side of that is when things are designed with meaning and purpose but are just plain ugly.  I find that churches and youth groups are the usual violators.  Really anything that has been labeled "Christian" wil betray every design sensibility known to man.  Luckily for all of us, the trend is changing and the century old ban on art is lifting.  Will live in a visual world and we have to learn to express ourselves visually.  I dabbled into web design for a short while, but I found it much too time consuming.  I still maintain my friend Ben's site called longboater.com.  Check it out if you'd like.  For now, I'm sticking to graphic design such as logos, t-shirts, ads, and other forms.  I do a lot of work for my wife's work at Life Church.  Whatever the medium, I try to create art that simple, but eye catching.  I perfer art that is engaging rather that over powering.
